About Duct Components

Explains the concept of duct components in the Air Duct Network Calculation.

In the Duct Components dialog, select the component models to be used for the components in the Air Duct Network Calculation. Data from different manufacturers is available as well as the modells created by the user in the Curve Data dialog. Assignment of component data is done via global preselection or by explicitly assigning valve data to individual components in the drawing.

Components added to the preselection (Duct Components dialog) are saved in the project including their technical data until they are removed from the preselection. Once a model is removed from preselection, it is no longer used for the corresponding duct components in the calculation.

Install an appropriate data set to use the data from manufacturer duct components. Manufacturer data sets can be downloaded via the LINEAR Installation Center.

If several models have been selected for a calculation type and possibly for a class under Global Preselection, the program calculates which model fits best and inserts it automatically. If several model series are to be taken into account for the corresponding duct component, you can define a priority for the assignment during the calculation in the Duct Components dialog. In Local Assignment you select and assign models that deviate from those selected in global preselection. This tab also lists the models of components that have been placed from the LINEAR CAD Browser.

Duct Components in the Air Duct Network Calculation

Hydraulic balancing is part of the calculation of the duct network. This is achieved by the dimensioning and by setting regulating components such as air diffusers or volume flow controllers so that the pressure loss is identical in all flow paths when viewed from the fan at set volume flows. The pressure loss data for all installed duct components is taken from the curve data of the assigned component models.
