Main Commands in the Symbol Bar
Button | Description |
---|---|
Main menu | Opens the main menu\nMain Menu |
New Project | Creates a new project. |
Open project | Opens an existing project. |
Save project | Saves the currently opened project. When saving for the first time, the Save As dialog is called. |
Print preview | Before you start the printing process, you can check the printout using the print preview in a page view. |
Undo, Redo | Undoes the last workflow step (also Ctrl-Z) or restores a previously undone workflow step (also Ctrl-Y). The function can be deactivated in the Configuration under Program Settings with the Undo/Redo Protocol checkbox. This is useful especially for large projects to relieve the processing load. |
Cut, Copy, Paste | You can cut or copy currently marked elements and paste them again at the currently marked position. These functions can also be activated using the familiar shortcuts Ctrl + X, Ctrl + C, Ctrl + V. |
Search and Replace | Opens the Search & Replace dialog where you can modify specific properties of room components and rooms. This allows you, for example, to filter out all exterior walls with a certain U-value, view these components in a table and then replace the U-value with a new value. |
View backward, View forward | If you switched between views or modules, you can use these buttons to switch between the last views. |
Reports | Displays the messages in the log window that are either only relevant for the current module or for all calculations. In both cases, a calculation is carried out for the entire project. |
Interrupt calculation | Enabled: The project will no longer be recalculated after each modification. This option is useful especially for large projects or in processing intensive modules such as dynamic cooling load calculation. |
Configuration | Opens the Configuration dialog, in which you can set basic settings for LINEAR Building. |
CAD-Connection | Establishes the connection to a CAD program. If you have multiple CAD programs or projects open, you can select which platform or project to connect to. LINEAR Building is able to connect to AutoCAD, Revit and LINEAR CADinside. The connection to a CAD program is a prerequisite for using the commands for Drawing, Labeling and Updating. |
Draw | Draws selected elements into a connected CAD program. The elements that may be drawn in include, for example, radiators, radiant heating elements or floor heating manifolds. If you draw in an element that already exists in the target document, you can use a query to delete the existing element before placing it. In the modules for creating schemes, clicking on opens a context menu in which you can insert the scheme with discipline-specific labeling options into a connected CAD program. This function can also be activated via F10. |
Labeling | Labels selected elements in a connected CAD program. The elements that may be labeled include, for example, radiators, radiant heating elements or floor heating manifolds. If an element has already been labeled, the old label will be overwritten when this element is labeled again. This command can also be activated using the F3 key. |
Refresh
This updates either the LINEAR Building- and CAD data or the building structure from the CAD program, depending on the options selected in the appearing menu. You can also define the synchronization settings used during the update and configure them if required. The menu is only available when a CAD program is open.
Click to open the following menu:
Menu item | Description |
---|---|
Start ... | Starts the update of the LINEAR Building- and CAD data or the update of the building structure from the CAD program. |
Update Building Structure with Enveloping Surfaces, Update Building Structure without Enveloping Surfaces | Enables the building structure to be updated from the CAD program. If you select Update Building Structure with Enveloping Surfaces, the complete building structure is updated with all building data. When selecting Update Building Structure without Enveloping Surfaces, only the rooms and the building topology are adopted. No room components such as walls, windows and doors are transferred to LINEAR Building. Based on this data, you can, for example, determine approximate heating loads. The option Update Building Structure without Enveloping Surfaces is only available if the building was detected without enveloping surfaces. After an update with the Update Building Structure with Enveloping Surfaces option, the Update Building Structure without Enveloping Surfaces option is no longer available. Enabled: After clicking on Start ..., the building structure is updated according to the selected option and the synchronization settings used. Disabled: After clicking on Start ..., the data available in LINEAR Building and in the CAD program is updated according to the synchronization settings used. |
Default Synchronization Settings | Enabled: The Standard Synchronization Settings are used when updating the LINEAR Building- and CAD data or when updating the building structure. |
User-defined Synchronization Settings | In addition to the options Standard Synchronization Settings and Configure Synchronization ..., you will be offered user-defined synchronization settings in the menu, provided these have been saved under the following path: ...\Solutions XX\Building\User-Standards\Templates. Enabled: The user-defined synchronization settings are used when updating the LINEAR Building- and CAD data or when updating the building structure. |
Configure Synchronization ... | Opens the Synchronization area of the Configuration, in which you can specify for each parameter whether and in which direction (LINEAR Building to CAD program or CAD program to LINEAR Building) the respective parameter should be written when the building is detected or updated. |
Further Commands/Symbols
Button | Description |
---|---|
Delete element from drawing | Deletes the currently selected element in the connected CAD program, but not in LINEAR Building. |
, CAD-Length, Loading Area | If the cursor is in a text field that requires a dimension, you can use this function to tap the length or area from the connected CAD program. Make sure that the scale of the floor plan in the CAD program matches the scale in the CAD General area of the Configuration dialog. This command can also be activated using the F9 key. |
Show CAD element | Highlights an element selected in LINEAR Building in the connected CAD program. Elements that can be highlighted in the CAD program include, e.g. component segments, doors, windows, rooms, apartments, storeys or building parts. Elements of the same type from the master tables are highlighted in groups in the CAD program. |
This function remains active until you click the button again. This means that you can display several elements directly one after another in the CAD- model without having to restart the function for each element. Note: In conjunction with Revit, elements in linked drawings can also be selected. |
Search CAD element | Displays an element, selected with this function in the connected CAD program, in its corresponding context in LINEAR Building. In case of doors, the element is displayed in the room from whose side it was selected: If a door is selected from the corridor side, LINEAR Building switches to the Corridor room and marks the corresponding door. If the door is selected from the room behind it, it will be shown in the context of the corresponding room in LINEAR Building. In Revit, you can use the Tab key to switch to the desired element in case of multi-layer elements. |
U-value exchange | Opens the Switch U-Value dialog, in which you can replace U-values within the respective current structural level and within the module. |
