Assigning Simultaneities via Special Building Type
Shows step-by-step how to freely enter the simultaneity for individual sections of the potable water network via the Special building building type.
Before you begin
You want to freely define the simultaneity for parts of a building.
Requirements:
-
The pipe network is closed an can be calculated.
-
The pipe network is detected.

Initial situation:
In a gymnasium there are two locker rooms with showers on the ground floor and first floor. The showers are only used on one of the two floors at the same time. On each floor, however, it must be ensured that all tapping points can be used at the same time after exercise. Thus, the simultaneity here is 100%.
Procedure
- Click Settings.
The Settings dialog opens.
- From the drop-down list, select the Special building building type and close the dialog with OK.
The building type Special building is assigned to the entire pipe network.
- Click Calculation.
The Potable water network dialog opens.
- Click Peak flow rate....
The Peak flow rate and simultaneity dialog opens.
- Change the project settings to Per partial volume flow rate.
- Click Special building Assign simultaneity.
- In the model, select the section parts from the network start to the ground floor as shown below and confirm the selection by Enter.
Since the ground floor and the upper floor are not used at the same time, the pipes leading to the floors only need 50% simultaneity.
The dialog for setting simultaneity opens.
- Enter 50 % as simultaneity and close the dialog by OK.
Results
The simultaneity is changed for all following section parts up to the last tapping point. Use the Show Special building simultaneity function to view the result.
On the first floor and the ground floor (yellow) the simultaneity is 100%, in the basement (red) it is 50%.
