Creating Key(lists) and Using them in Zoning

Shows step-by-step how to create key lists and use the keys defined in them for zoning.

Before you begin

You want to define keys in order to use them in Zoning.

Requirements:

You know the parameters that you want to include in the key list.

Navigate to:

Revit program interfaceProject browser

Procedure

  1. In the tree structure of the project browser, right-click on Schedules/Quantities (all).
  2. In the context menu, select New Schedule/Quantities.....

The New Schedule dialog opens. Here you can add the desired fields for the systematic assignment of keys and the attribution of your spaces.

  3. Select the Spaces entry in the Category area.
  4. In the Name field, enter a name for key lists.
  5. Use the radio button to select the Schedule key option.
  6. Enter a name for the key in the Key name field.
  7. Click OK.
    The Schedule Properties dialog opens.
  8. Select the required fields (parameters) under Available fields and add them to the Add parameter(s) button in the Scheduled fields (in order) list.
  9. Confirm the entries by clicking on OK.
The key list opens in a new tab as a table.
  10. Right-click in the table and select Insert data row from the context menu that appears.

A new row is added to the table.

  11. Enter the respective texts or values for the key name and the parameters in the fields.
Note: Depending on the parameter type, you need to select a parameter value via the three-dot button in a sub-dialog, e.g. for the area type.
  12. Repeat steps 10 and 11 to add more data rows and therefore more keys to the table.

Results

You can now activate the key via the Configure zone types ... dialog in the Zoning section via the checkbox and use it for zoning. In the space list for zoning, the key names are listed as zones. If you now assign the spaces to the zones, the parameters in the spaces change according to the key.
