Detecting Facade Systems
Get information on how to correctly record facade systems.
In LINEAR Building, simple facade components, which can include both glazed facades and opaque systems, are classified based on their translucence. Transparent facades are transferred as window components, opaque facades as walls. It is currently not possible to determine the U-values from Revit by an exact calculation, since not all the required parameters for a standard-compliant processing are stored. For this reason, enter either the manufacturer's specifications or suitable design values for the corresponding components in the master tables of LINEAR Building.
The following limitations have to be observed during detection:
- If possible, avoid nesting facade walls (e.g. by defining a facade wall as a panel type).
- Varying facade types, i.e. those with both transparent and opaque panel types , are currently transferred as windows. If necessary, you should adjust the proportion of glass surface for the calculation or partition the component manually.
- Facade systems created in Revit on the surface of a body shape or a generic model (facade system by surface) are currently not fully supported. If possible, use facade walls or roof glazing.
- The detection of sandwich components with integrated facade walls can work in individual cases, but this case is not explicitly provided for so far. If possible, construct such scenarios differently or fill in missing information manually.
