Details on Item Numbers
Information about the Item numbers section in the construction design.
With the Item numbers < function you can assign item numbers with prefixes and suffixes to components.
You are here:
Parameters
You can assign item numbers for up to three different numbering systems. A numbering system can also contain different prefixes and suffixes. This depends on the system task. For example, you could assign your own number groups for production, assembly and maintenance of the components at a later date.
Mode
Specifies the mode according to which the item numbers are assigned to the components.
Selection | Description |
---|---|
Sequential index (network) | Uses the the given increment to systematically number the components in the selected section, starting with the first component that is specified. Where branches occur, numbering first continues on a path, and only afterwards are the components of the other branches numbered. For that reason, components directly adjacent to one another can have item numbers that are not sequential in some situations. |
Sequential index (path) | Uses the given increment to number the components between the first and last components that are specified. |
Sequential index (unordered) | Uses the given increment to number the components at random. |
According to item/type | Numbers all components of the same type with the same item number. To determine whether a component is the same checks whether item number exists and whether it is the same. If no item number exists, it is checked whether the connection dimension and length are the same as components that have already been numbered. |
Section by section | In the given sections each of the components is assigned the same item number; for example Assembly-1 in the first section given, Assembly-2 in the second section given, etc. Here, for a new section the function raises the item number by the given increment. |
Element by element | Numbers individually selected components and raises the item number by the given increment. |
Increment
Specifies the increment to be used to assign the item number values. Use 10, for example, if you want to number components in steps of 10.
Position format
Selection | Description |
---|---|
Main numbers | Increments in steps the number specified under Item using the given increment; for example 1, 2, 3 .... |
Sub-numbers (alphabetical) | The value specified under Item is used for numbering, supplemented with a letter beginning with a; the letters are incremented, for example 1a, 1b, 1c …. |
Sub-numbers (numerical) | The value specified under Item is used for numbering, supplemented with a further value starting at 1; the latter is incremented in steps, for example 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 … or 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 ... |
Prefix
Enter the text that is to be placed in front of each item number.
Position
Enter the numerical value at which the numbering starts.
Determines the next not-yet-assigned value for the item number with the given prefix and suffix. For example, if you have assigned the item numbers Assembly-1 to Assembly-12 and then click the button, the function updates the value in the Item field to 13.
Postfix
Enter the text that is to be placed after each item number.
Further settings
Ignore connectors/flanges
Ignores connectors and flanges when assigning item numbers.
Retain existing numbers
Activated: Item numbers that have already been assigned are retained when you assign further item numbers.
Deactivated: Item numbers that have already been assigned are overwritten.
Check <
Checks the item numbers of the components that are selected. If components do not have a position number, a report appears in the Issues and tasks section of the control board.
Reset
Selection | Description |
---|---|
Selection < | Removes the item number of the selected components in the set number group, and their prefix, item and postfix you have entered. |
Items with specified prefix | In the set number group, resets the item numbers of the components that have the specified prefix. |
Total number group | In the set number group, resets the item numbers of all components of the model. |
