Detecting/Transferring a Building from a CAD Program

Shows step-by-step how to detect/transfer a building from a CAD program.

Before you begin

You want to detect/transfer a building from a CAD program in LINEAR Building.

Requirements:

  • You have opened either Revit, AutoCAD or CADinside with the building to be detected.
  • A connection to the CAD program has been established.
  • The synchronization settings in the configuration of LINEAR Building are set according to the requirements of your project.

Navigate to:

LINEAR BuildingToolbar

Toolbar in LINEAR Building

Procedure

  1. Open the Main Menu and select Transfer Building from CAD.
    The Select Template dialog opens.
“Select template” dialog during building detection in LINEAR Building
  2. Select a template and click OK.
    The following query opens:
Query for the transfer of building data during building detection in LINEAR Building
  3. Specify whether the Complete Building Structure or only the Building Structure without Enveloping Surfaces is transferred.
If you select Building Structure without Enveloping Surfaces, only the rooms and the building topology are transferred. No room components such as walls, windows and doors are transferred to LINEAR Building. Use this option if, for example, you want to determine an approximate heat load in early planning phases.

The building is analyzed and transferred to LINEAR Building. The Building Data dialog then opens.

  4. Check and complete the building data and click OK.

Results

Your building is detected in LINEAR Building and can be used for the requirements analysis.
