Building

Type of Building: Drop-down list for selecting the building type. This information has an impact on several calculations, e.g. the calculation of the heat load and the domestic ventilation, which is why the information is arranged globally. If a non-residential building type is selected, the term Range is used instead of Apartment. This term can be adjusted in the Configuration in the Options section. The selection of the building type also determines the the calculation method: One-family, two-family and multi-family houses are calculated in accordance with ISSO 51. Offices/administration buildings and other buildings are calculated in accordance with ISSO 53. At building unit level, the selection Mixed Building enables the option of selecting the appropriate building type for each building unit and thus the calculation method.

Ventilation Zone: Drop-down list for selecting the structural level on which ventilation zones are defined in the project. You can choose between project, building part, storey and apartment / area. For calculation according to ISSO, the ventilation zone must be on the same level as the building unit.

Building Unit: Drop-down list for selecting the structural level on which building units are defined in the project. You can choose between project, building part, storey and apartment / area. The building unit must be on the same level as the ventilation zone.

Note: The settings for ventilation zone and building unit are required for heat load calculations according to EN 12831-1 with its national supplements. The setting for the building unit is not relevant in the heating load calculation for Denmark according to DS 418.
Note:

The definition of the building unit is necessary, because this definition can influence which components of a building unit are marked as adjoining to a differently heated or to a heated range.

Components adjoining to a heated room of another building unit are given the status adjoining to a hardly-heated or differently- heated apartment (uw). Components adjoining to a heated room of the same building unit are given the status adjoining to a heated room (i,j).

Consider apartments with the same name and number as one apartment: Prerequisite for this function is that on the project level in the building data BU and VZ are both set to Apartment. The function is activated by default.

Enabled: Apartments that are on different storeys or building parts but have the same number and name are considered as one apartment in the heat load calculation. At the apartment level, all rooms belonging to this apartment are displayed, regardless of the current storey. In order to connect an apartment to another one after it has been detected, the name and number should be manually adjusted in the apartment that is being added. The added apartment receives the BU and VZ settings of the existing apartment. The BU and VZ settings of connected apartments are synchronized in both directions.

Disabled: Apartments that have the same number and name are considered to be separate apartments and are charged separately.

Geometry

Building Length, Building Width: These dimensions must be entered manually. If these fields are filled, the values can be used to calculate the surface area.

Building Area: During building detection, the area of the building is determined and entered in the field. With manual entry, you can enter a freely selected value. By clicking you can calculate the area using the length and width of the building.

Building Height: The height of the building is calculated on the basis of the storeys defined in the project. Alternatively, you can also enter a freely selected value. Click to return to the calculated value.

Building Volume: The building volume is calculated using the dimensions specified. Alternatively, you can enter a freely selected value. Click to return to the calculated value.

Ground-Adjoining Floor of All Heated Rooms

Length, Width After the building has been detected, the longest and widest inner wall dimension is entered here. Alternatively, you can also enter a freely selected value.

Area: The area of the ground-adjoining floor in heated rooms calculated according to the standard. This value is determined and transferred during building detection. Alternatively, you can enter a freely selected value. By clicking you can calculate the area using the length and width of the building.

Note:

As soon as you either enter a freely selected value here or click , the value calculated during building detection can only be restored by updating the building from CAD.

Outline: The outline of the ground-adjoining floor in heated rooms calculated according to the standard. This value is transferred once during building detection. Alternatively, you can enter a freely selected value. By clicking you can calculate the outline using the length and width of the building.

Note:

As soon as you either enter a freely selected value here or click , the value calculated during building detection can only be restored by updating the building from CAD.

Ground Water Depth: Enter the ground water depth for the project location. This will be used to calculate the heat losses at areas in contact with the ground.

Depth of Bottom Plate: Specify the depth of the bottom plate. This will be used to calculate the heat losses at areas in contact with the ground.
