Change text styles globally

Shows step-by-step how to change the styles of texts in a drawing globally.

Before you begin

You want to change the text style of drawing texts globally.

Requirement:

You know the name of the text style that you want to change and the name of the text style that you want to assign.

Tip:

With this function, you can not only change the styles used for texts in a drawing globally, but also adjust the color, layer, text height, width factor and tilt and rotation angle if necessary. You can also filter the texts to be customized based on these properties. If required, you can define and link several selection criteria (AND/OR).

Navigate to:

Tools tab ➤ Command group Change

Applies to all disciplines.

Procedure

  1. Click on Change Text style <.

    The available selection criteria are displayed in the command line.

    Tip: Right-click to display and select the criteria in a context menu.
  2. Enter S for style in the command line and confirm your entry.
    The name of the text style to be changed is requested in the command line.
  3. Enter the name of the text style you wish to customize and confirm your entry.
    The selection criteria are displayed again in the command line so that you can define further criteria if necessary and link them later with an AND or OR condition.
  4. Press the Enter button to skip entering further selection criteria.
    The name of the text style you want to assign is requested in the command line.
  5. Enter the name of the text style you want to assign to the texts and confirm your entry.
    In the command line, you are also offered the option of customizing the font or font file used.
  6. Press Enter to skip the adjustment of the font or font file.
    In the command line, you are also offered to adjust the text height used.
  7. Press Enter to skip the text height adjustment.
    In the command line, you are also offered to adjust the width factor used.
  8. Press Enter to skip the adjustment of the width factor.
    In the command line, you are also offered to adjust the used tilt angle.
  9. Press Enter to skip the adjustment of the tilt angle.
    In the command line, you are offered the possibility of displaying the texts upside down.
  10. Enter N for No in the command line and confirm your entry.
    In the command line, you are offered the option of arranging the individual elements of the texts vertically instead of horizontally.
  11. Enter N for No in the command line and confirm your entry.
    In the command line, you are also offered to change the color by entering a color number.
  12. Press Enter to skip the adjustment of the tilt angle.
    In the command line, you are offered the option of assigning the texts to another layer.
    Note: If a non-existent layer is entered, the layer is created automatically.
  13. Press Enter to skip the layer assignment.
    A dialog opens that tells you how many elements will be changed.
  14. Click Yes to make the changes to the elements.

Results

You have changed the text style of drawing texts globally.
