Installing Valves in a Pipe

Shows step-by-step how to insert valves from the available manufacturer catalogs into an existing pipe.

Before you begin

You want to install valves, e.g. shut-off valves, non-return valves, mixers, etc., in your pipe network.

Navigate to:

Project tabDiscipline3D - Model planningCreate tabCommand group Components

Applies to: Heating/ Cooling, Potable Water, Waste Water, Gas, Fire Protection

Procedure

  1. Click the button Install valve <.

    The dialog Component - Selection opens.

  2. Use the fields Component type, Min. pressure rating, Dimension and Manufacturer to select the valve.
    Note: The valves from the manufacturer catalogs that you have installed and licensed are displayed.
  3. Optional: Select an installation direction under Options.
  4. Optional: Under Component, select the desired component model.
  5. Close the dialog with a click on OK.
  6. Click to select the pipe into which you want to insert the valve.

  7. Optional: Right-click to open the context menu to enter an alternative insertion point or to rotate the fitting before inserting it.

  8. Determine the position for the valve with a click or alternatively by entering the distance to the pipe end or pipe axis using the keyboard and then pressing Enter.
    Note: To enter the distances manually using the keyboard, the dynamic input must be active in AutoCAD.

Results

The valve has been inserted into the pipe at the specified point.
