Translate Drawing Texts

Shows step-by-step how to translate drawing texts.

Before you begin

You would like to translate texts from your drawing and adapt their text style if necessary.

Requirements:

  • You have entered the terms to be translated and their translation in one of the dictionaries (...\TGA Desktop\User-standards\Tools) and then saved the dictionary.
Note: The exact letter and character sequences used in the drawing for the text objects to be translated must be stored in the dictionaries for the translation to work. Capitalization is also relevant here.
  • If you want to change the text style used for the translation, you need a AutoCAD template file (*.dwt) containing the text style to be used.

Navigate to:

“Labeling and Output” tabCommand group “Label drawing”Translation ...

Applies to all disciplines.

Dialog “Translate texts” in the LINEAR Solutions for Autodesk AutoCAD

Procedure

  1. Specify whether you want to select the texts to be translated individually (Manual), whether all texts of the current drawing should be translated automatically (Automatically in current drawingall objects) or whether the texts of several drawings should be translated automatically (File batch).
    Note:

If you activate Automatic in current drawing without the All objects option, you can define an area in the drawing before translation so that only the text objects in this area are translated.

  2. If you have selected File batch, click on and select the folder containing the drawings to be translated in the displayed dialog.
  3. Specify whether the original texts are to be replaced by the translated texts (Overwrite texts) or whether the translated texts are to be inserted into the drawing as additional objects (Copy and move to).
  4. Optional: If you have selected Copy and move to, use the drop-down list to specify whether the translated texts should be placed above (Top) or below (Bottom) the original texts.
Note: With the Manual option, you can determine the position of the new text yourself after selecting the text object.
  5. Optionally, specify whether the translated text should have a different text style (Change style to). Then click on to select a template file (*.dwt) containing the desired text style in the displayed dialog. The text styles contained in the template file are then offered for selection in the drop-down list.
  6. Click on in the Wordbook file (MS Excel format) area and select the *.xls file containing the desired translations in the following dialog.
Note: Press to open and edit the wordbook file specified in the Path field.
  7. Click on Start <.

With the options Automatic in current drawing and All objects, the respective text objects are automatically translated.

With the File batch option, the drawings stored in the specified folder are automatically translated in the background.

  8. In the Manual option, select the text objects to be translated individually by clicking on them.
  9. In the Automatic in current drawing without All objects option, define an area in the drawing to be translated and confirm your selection by right-clicking or pressing Enter.
