Create or Edit Text Styles

Shows step-by-step how to create your own text styles or edit existing text styles.

Before you begin

You want to create your own text styles or adapt existing text styles to your needs.

Navigate to:

Procedure

  1. Click .
    Tip: Alternatively, you can also enter style in the command line and confirm your entry.

    The AutoCAD dialog Text style opens.

  2. Click on New... to create a new text style or select the style you want to customize from the list of styles.
    Tip:

    The symbol before the style name indicates that the style is a label.

    When creating new text styles, the New text style dialog opens.
  3. It is also possible to enter a name for the text style in the New text style dialog and click OK.
    The text style is created and added to the list of styles in the Text style dialog. You can now configure the newly created text style.
  4. Use the Font name drop-down list to specify the font to be used and, if you wish, select the font style to be used.
    Note: It is recommended to work with AutoCAD fonts and not to use TrueType fonts, as these may not be displayed correctly by CAD. AutoCAD-Fonts are marked with a compass symbol , true type fonts can be recognized by the TT symbol .
  5. Optional: If you want to use a Big Font file for Asian fonts, activate the Use Big Font checkbox.
    Note: The Use big font checkbox is only activated for SHX fonts.
    The font style drop-down list is replaced by a list for selecting the Big Font.
  6. Optional: Select the Big Font you want to use.
  7. Activate the Label checkbox in the Size area if you want to use the style for labels and define further settings in the area if necessary.
  8. In the Effects area, activate the checkboxes for the effects you want the text style to have and adjust the width factor and tilt angle if necessary.
  9. Click on Apply to save the text style settings.
  10. To use the text style, click Set as current and close the dialog.

Results

You have created your own text style or edited an existing text style.
