Creating a Legend for a Drawing

Shows step-by-step how to create a legend of the symbols and media used in a drawing and place it into the drawing.

Before you begin

You would like to create a legend of the symbols and media used for your drawing and place it into your drawing.

Note: A legend is generated for the currently selected discipline. All symbols and media that you have used in the drawing are detected. Furthermore, custom symbols and free symbols are also listed.

Navigate to:

“Labeling and Output” tabCommand group “Label drawing”

Procedure

  1. Select the desired text style or open the Text style dialog using to adjust or create text styles.
  2. Specify the desired text heights and colors for the header and description.
  3. Define the desired spacing between the symbols and their text and the individual rows of the legend.
  4. Set the desired Symbol factor.
  5. Click on Symbols legend <.
    The legend is created and you can now place the legend in your drawing.
  6. Click into the drawing to define the top left-hand corner of the legend.

Results

You have created a legend of the symbols and media used in your drawing and placed it in your drawing.

Note: Legends are created on the basis of the information in the media table. If you edit media layers directly, the changes in the media table must be updated manually for the legends to be displayed correctly.

If either a layer or the Media table is changed after a legend has been created, the legend must be placed again because the legend is located on its own layer and is not automatically updated.
