Search and Replace Text Objects

Shows step-by-step how to search for and replace a search term in all texts of a drawing or in selected text objects.

Before you begin

You want to search for and replace a text or character string in your drawing or in certain text objects in your drawing.

Navigate to:

“Labeling and Output” tabCommand group “Label drawing”

Procedure

  1. Open the Search and replace < area.
  2. Enter the search term you want to search for in the Search for input field or click on to retrieve the content of a text object in your drawing.
  3. In the Replace with input field, enter the word or character string that is to replace the search term or click on to retrieve the content of a text object in your drawing.
  4. In the Replace in area, specify whether the search term should be replaced in the entire drawing or whether the selection of text objects to be replaced should be made manually.
  5. Optionally, activate the Case sensitive checkbox.
  6. Click on Search and replace < to start the command
  7. Press the Enter button if you have selected Replace in entire drawing.
    The search term is replaced in all affected text objects in the drawing. You will receive a message about how many elements have been replaced.
  8. If you have selected the Selection option in the Replace in area, press the Enter key, select the text objects to be replaced in the drawing and confirm your selection by right-clicking or pressing the Enter key.
    The search term is replaced in all selected text objects. You will receive a message about how many elements have been replaced.

Results

You have searched for a search term in your drawing or in certain text objects in your drawing and replaced it.
