Assign Item Numbers to Components

Shows step-by-step how to assign item numbers to components in 3D Model planning.

Before you begin

You want to assign item numbers to components in your drawing in order to label the components with these item numbers afterwards, for example, or to use the item numbers in installation plans.

Tip:

If you want to label the components directly with the numbers when assigning the item numbers, carry out the steps in the task “Assign item numbers to components and label them directly”.

Navigate to:

Project tabDisciplinePlanning type 3D - Model planning“Labeling and Output” tabCommand group “Label drawing”

  2. Optional: Specify whether existing numbers should be retained and whether existing gaps in the numbering should be used.
  3. Optional: Specify whether components of the same type or components of the same section should receive the same numbers.
Note: If you select the option Sections receive the same numbers, you also define which part belongs to the current section when assigning the numbers.
  4. Optional: Specify the item list to be used in the Group (number range) area.
Note: For each item list, you must select the corresponding label in the Label components < area for subsequent labeling with the item numbers, e.g. the Position2 label for item list 2.
  5. Optional: Specify whether main numbers or sub-numbers should be used and, if necessary, make further settings in the respective area.
  6. Click on the Start button.
The Assign item numbers dialog is hidden so that you can make a selection in the drawing.
  7. Follow the instructions in the command line.
  8. After assigning the item numbers, press the ESC button to display the Assign item numbers dialog again.
  9. Optional: If you have activated the option Sections receive the same numbers and would like to assign item numbers to the components of another section, start the assignment again.
  10. Close the Assign item numbers dialog.
The item numbers will be hidden. However, they are still assigned to the components and you can use the numbers for labeling or creating installation plans.

Results

You have assigned item numbers to the components.

What to do next

You can now label the components with their item numbers using the Label components < command. To do this, use the corresponding labeler in the Label components < area. You can create assembly plans using the Create installation plan < command.
