  2. Optional: Specify whether existing numbers should be retained and whether existing gaps in the numbering should be used.
  3. Optional: Specify whether components of the same type or components of the same section should receive the same numbers.
Note: If you select the option Sections receive the same numbers, you also define which part belongs to the current section when assigning the numbers.
  4. Optional: Specify the item list to be used in the Group (number range) area.
Important: For each item list, you must select the corresponding label in the Label components < area for direct labeling with the item numbers, e.g. the Position2 label for item list 2.
  5. Optional: Specify whether main numbers or sub-numbers should be used and, if necessary, make further settings in the respective area.
  6. Activate the Label directly checkbox and click on the Start button.
The Assign item numbers dialog is hidden.
  7. If necessary, enter e in the command line and confirm the entry to activate the Single selection mode, as direct labeling is only supported in this selection mode.
  8. Click on a component to assign an item number to the component.
If you label with reference line, this click also defines the point at which the reference line starts on the component.
The component is given a position number and the label is attached to the cursor for placement.
  9. Place the label in the desired position by clicking on it, align it and confirm the alignment by clicking again.
  10. Repeat steps 8 and 9 for all components that you want to label with item numbers.
  11. Press the ESC button to display the Assign item numbers dialog again.
  12. Optional: If you are working with the option Sections receive the same numbers and want to assign item numbers to the components of another section, start the assignment again.
