Labeling Pipes with Elevation Marks

Shows step-by-step how to label pipes with elevation marks.

Before you begin

You want to determine the heights of individual points in rising or falling pipes in schemes, floor plans or 2D detailed plans and label the points with elevation marks.

Requirement:

The height of the starting point of the pipe and the gradient of the pipe are known.

Initial situation of the example used: Labels for the height of points P1 to P3 have to be created. The height of P1 and the gradient of the pipe are known.

Procedure

  1. Click on Pipe height ... and enter the height of the starting point of the pipe in the Height field in the Pipe height dialog that opens.
    In this example, 1.50 m is used for P1.
  2. Specify whether the pipe is rising or falling and enter the corresponding value either as a percentage or in degrees.
    In this example, a 2 % gradient is used.
  3. Click Labeling<.
    The dialog disappears and the elevation mark for the starting point is attached to the cursor.
  4. Place the elevation mark with a click, then align the elevation mark with the mouse and confirm the alignment with another click.

  5. Click on Starting point < to start determining the height of the second point (P2) and then select the starting point of the pipe (P1) in the drawing.
    The name of the Starting point < button changes to Next point <.
  6. Click on Next point < and select the first point in the drawing whose height you want to determine (P2).

    The Height of the second point calculated using the Distance and Gradient is displayed in the Pipe height dialog.

  7. Click on Label < and place the elevation markt of the second point in the drawing.

  8. Click on Next point < to determine the height of the next point (P3) and then select the point in the drawing.

    In the Pipe height dialog, the Distance between the second and third point and the Height of the third point calculated using the gradient are displayed.

  9. Click on Label < and place the elevation mark of the third point in the drawing.

Results

You have determined the heights of points in a rising or falling pipe and labeled the points with elevation marks.
