Draw Section Lines

Shows step-by-step how to insert section lines into a drawing.

Before you begin

You want to draw a labeled section line in your drawing.

Navigate to:

“Labeling and Output” tabCommand group “Label drawing”Section/view labeling

Procedure

  1. Set the desired text height.
  2. Select the section arrow to be used from the list of section arrows.
  3. Specify the line style and line weight in the Cutting plane line area using the drop-down lists.
  4. Use the color field to specify the color of the cutting plane line.
  5. Specify whether the cutting plane line is only indicated.
  6. Define the projection of the cutting plane line at the start and end point.
  7. Click on section/view labeling.
  8. Define the support points of the cutting plane line in your drawing.

  9. Confirm your entry by right-clicking or pressing Enter.
    The prompt to set the section depth appears in the command line.
  10. Use the mouse to set the section depth to determine the orientation of the labeling at the start and end point of the cutting plane line and confirm this by right-clicking.Defining the section depth for the section line in the drawing

  11. Enter the name with which the start and end points are labeled and confirm your entry.

Results

You have drawn a labeled cutting plane line in the model area of your drawing.
