Classifying Components

Shows step-by-step how to classify components in order to assign the components a calculation type for the Pipe and Air Duct Network Calculation.

Before you begin

You have unclassified components in the pipe or duct network and would like to assign the appropriate calculation types to them so that the components take over the desired function in the calculation.

Procedure

  1. Open the Components section.
  2. Click Classification.
  3. Make a component selection in the model that contains the components to be classified and confirm the selection with Enter.

    The Classify dialog opens. The family types of the selected components are listed in the table. Unclassified types have no entry in the Classify as column.

  4. In the Classify as field, click .

    The Classification dialog opens.

  5. Select the desired domain, function and class for the previously selected family type in the tree structure on the left of the dialog.

  6. Optional: If necessary, select a variant of the component class from the list at the top right of the dialog or use the drop-down list above to load another TEC file (e.g. a manufacturer data set) in order to access its variants.
  7. Confirm your selection with OK.
  8. If necessary, repeat the process until all family types have the desired classifications.

Results

The components were classified as required and are taken into account accordingly in the pipe or duct network calculation.
