About the Calculation Method “VDI 2082 Sales Premises”

Explains the concept of determining the required air volumes for rooms in non-residential buildings based on the calculation method VDI 2082-7 Laboratories.

The calculation method VDI 20082 Sales Premises is used to determine the required air volumes for retail/sales premises. This guideline applies to the ventilation of sales outlets regardless of their size. The prerequisite for classifying buildings or parts of buildings as sales premises is that these areas

  • are used wholly or partly for the sale of goods
  • contain at least one sales room and
  • are not exhibition/trade fair buildings.

In this calculation method, the air volumes are determined in particular taking into account the hygienically necessary outdoor air volume flows and the heat and cooling load. The hygienically necessary outdoor air volume flows are calculated based on the desired indoor air quality and the material loads in the building. The material loads result from the expected density of people, their level of activity and the pollutant and odor emissions of the building, the furnishings and the goods.
