About the Number of Persons in the Room

Explains the concept of the number of persons in the room in the context of the Ventilation module.

The number of people in the room is required for certain ventilation calculation methods. If the rooms in the CAD model have a value stored in the LINEAR parameter LIN_NUMBER_OF_PERSONS, this is transferred when the building is detected and used for the calculation. The number of persons can also be entered manually. If detected or manually entered values are available, they are used for all relevant calculation methods, regardless of whether a method contains its own calculation methods for determining the number of persons. In cases where the calculated value is to be used instead of the manually entered or detected value, the value from the ventilation calculation method can be entered for each room by clicking on . If the number of persons was neither entered manually nor transferred from the CAD model, when using calculation methods with methods for calculating the number of persons, the calculated value is entered.

In the configuration, you can specify whether the number of persons is transferred to the CAD program during synchronization with a connected CAD program. If the number of persons is transferred to a connected CAD program, both manually entered values and calculated values from Calculation method 1 or Calculation method 2 are transferred if Calculation method 1 does not determine the number of persons.

Ventilation calculation methods in the Ventilation module that use the number of persons (methods with their own calculation method are marked with *):
  • Workplace Directives (ASR A5)
  • Healthcare
  • ISSO 51 & 53 (here ISSO 53)*
  • Sales Premises*
  • EN 16798-1, Method 1
  • DIN 1946-6* ( Calculation for Bedrooms, Children's Room and Guest Room, to be set in the Configuration)

If two methods with their own calculation method for the number of persons are used for the calculation, the number of persons of calculation method 1 will be used. However, as soon as a room is calculated using either Calculation Method 1 or Calculation Method 2 in accordance with DIN 1946-6 Residential Ventilation, other methods are ignored. In such cases, it is assumed that the room is part of a domestic ventilation zone and no longer needs to be calculated as a separate non-residential room.

If, for example, a room is calculated according to DIN 1946-6 Domestic Ventilation (Calculation Method 1) and VDI 2082 Sales Premises (Calculation Method 2), the number of persons results from the calculation of DIN 1946-6, as all other methods are ignored when determining the number of persons with DIN 1946-6.

If a room is instead calculated according to VDI 2082 Sales Premises (Calculation Method 1) and ISSO 51 & 53 (Calculation Method 2), the number of persons results from VDI 2082, as it is the first calculation method that provides a number of persons.
