About Topic Synchronization
Explains the concept of synchronization of topics in connection with worksharing.
If you are working on a project in a team using the Revit function Collaborate, you have the possibility to use the issues and tasks tab to work on topics and thus issues together and use them for communication. For this purpose, a central model is created, which all project participants can load with their local Revit installation. More detailed information on the Collaborate Revit function can be found in the Revit Help.
Possible status of topics
If you are working on the same topics of a project with others, conflicts of content may occur. If there is a conflict, appropriate icons appear in front of the affected topics in the Topics ... section of the issues and tasks tabs.
, Warning: Indicates that another user is currently working on the topic or that the topic is no longer current.
, Error: Indicates that the topic was deleted from the central model, the file was not found or could not be loaded.
If you see an error for a topic, you can use the context menu to save the information it contains in a new topic before you synchronize to prevent data loss.
Source and target
In each conflict dialog you see the source on the left and the target on the right. The source always contains the current data from the central model. The target is your currently opened project. If you accept the source in a conflict dialog, your information is overwritten with the data from the central model. If you accept the target, your local data will be preserved. If you want your information to be written to the central model, you must manually synchronize with the central model after you have accepted the target in a conflict dialog.
Basic procedure
- Create reports that are only relevant for you in topics specially marked as such (for example, with abbreviations).
- Specify a person who can process the issues.
- In the Revit dialog Synchronize with central file, activate the option Save local file before and after synchronization with central file..
- Before synchronizing, click Reload last to avoid duplicate synchronization of issues.
- Synchronize your work regularly with the central model.
