About the Short Procedure of Cooling Load Calculation

Explains the concept of implementation of the short procedure of cooling load calculation of LINEAR.

The basis of the cooling load calculation in the short procedure is section 6 of VDI 2078 as of July 1996. The LINEAR has extended the scope of calculations with selectable load curves.

Extensions

At room level, it is possible to specify the storage effect (Type of building/constr. type) of the enveloping surfaces involved. Available for selection:
  • KS: no thermal storage capacity
  • XL: extra light
  • L: Light
  • M: Medium
  • S: Heavy
The room type can be set globally at project level, for groups of rooms, or for individual rooms.
The cooling load curves determined for each 24h can be displayed graphically and in tabular form. The available display options include but are not limited to
  • Persons
  • Lighting
  • Machinery
  • Material throughput
  • Radiation through exterior windows
  • Transmission through exterior walls or exterior windows
  • Transmission through interior walls (to adjacent room)
  • Total cooling load with display of the most unfavorable time
  • Graphical and tabular display of the outside air and the set room air temperature
  • and more
