About Information Levels and Use in the LINEAR Properties

Explains the concept of information levels and their use in the LINEAR Properties dialog.

The execution of MEP projects is generally based on project phases that require a specific level of model development for the BIM model in question. A model development level presupposes a certain depth of information, which is expressed in connection with the project phases via the LOIN (Level of Information Need).

Within the individual project phases, not all details of the elements contained in the BIM model (MEP components, MEP rooms, technical centers, etc.) are always required in the MEP planning. You can use the Information levels to filter the amount of data displayed in the LINEAR Properties according to the level of model development. You can choose between the available information levels in the top drop-down list of the LINEAR Properties. For example, if you select the Preliminary draft information level, which stands for a LOIN of 100, only the properties to which the corresponding LOI (Level of Information) has been assigned are displayed.
Note: You can assign the LOIs to the properties within a property set on the Element classes and property sets tab of the dialog of the same name.

In the Element classes and property sets dialog, you can view and configure the predefined information levels on the Information levels tab. You can also create your own information levels there and optionally define different specifications for the inclusion of element classes in the information level.

The definition of information levels is project-specific. You can also export the configuration of element classes and property sets as well as information levels to a file using the save function and use them in other projects.
