Split Drawings into Systems

Shows step-by-step how to subsequently assign the components of a drawing to different systems.

Before you begin

You want to divide the components of a drawing into different systems at a later date.

Tip: To assign components directly when drawing a system, you must first select the corresponding system in the Systems ... area on the Project tab.

Requirements:

  • Layer management must be active (Configuration Configuration button - LINEAR Solutions for Autodesk AutoCADGeneral TabActivated (Layer Management Area)).
  • The layer key must contain variables for the System element (Configuration Configuration button - LINEAR Solutions for Autodesk AutoCADGeneral Tab).
  • The components must be located on layers that contain a layer abbreviation for systems.
  • The systems to which you want to assign components have already been created (Project TabSystems ...).

Applies to Heating, Potable Water, Waste Water, Ventilation, Radiant Heating and Cooling, Cooling, Gas, Fire Protection, Electrical, Mounting Planning.

Procedure

  1. If necessary, open the LINEAR Properties by clicking the Properties button in the LINEAR Solutions for Autodesk AutoCAD button in the footer of the Control Board.
  2. In the drawing, select the components that you want to assign to a system.
Note: If necessary, use the Select pipe or duct sections function to select the components (Control BoardSelect pipe or duct sections Select pipe or duct sections button in the LINEAR Solutions for Autodesk AutoCAD).
  3. In the LINEAR Properties, click on View properties of (...) components (button “View properties” in the LINEAR Properties in Autodesk AutoCAD).
The properties of the selected components are displayed.
  4. In the LINEAR Properties under General, use the System drop-down list to specify the desired system for the components.
  5. Cancel the component selection and select other components to assign them to another system.

Results

You have subsequently divided the components of a drawing into different systems.

What to do next

You can now use the division, for example, for view control, further divide the installations into Spools/Sections or Partitions or create assembly plans based on this division.
