Details on the “IFC MEP Export” Dialog
Information on the IFC MEP Export dialog of the Export command group of the Labeling and Output tab.
In this dialog, you define the settings for the IFC MEP Export and execute the export.
You are here:
During the IFC MEP export, LINEAR objects are captured that belong to the modules Design 3D Pipe&Power, Design 3D Ventilation and panel heating/cooling systems, including all system and calculation data, as well as the architecture (AEC walls). Not only the 3D model is exported, but also the associated parameters with their values. Components originating from the Design 3D Pipe&Power and Design 3D Ventilation modules are automatically classified correctly during export. Other components (such as CAD blocks, walls, windows, doors, etc.) will also be exported on demand, but export process will only consider the 3D model.
You can assign an IFC classification to components without IFC classification in the LINEAR Properties so that the classification can be read and assigned correctly, e.g. by IFC Model Viewers. Alternatively, you can also use the Component lists. This is especially recommended if several components require IFC classification, as the assignments can be made more conveniently in the Component lists.
Furthermore, the Classify. command can be used to automatically assign the correct IFC classification to components without IFC classification with the assignment of a calculation type.
Building Name
Defines the name of the building.
Trades to be exported:
Determines which objects are exported. You can exclude objects from the export by deactivating the corresponding checkboxes. Only trades for which associated objects have been selected in the drawing are listed.
Export Systems
The assignment of the components to the respective systems takes place in the background during the drawing of the components and is based on the selected disciplines (e.g. ventilation) and media (e.g. supply air). By assigning the components to their systems, navigation in the IFC model is facilitated and a better overview is created. However, some programs have problems with converting components into systems.
Enabled: All components combined to systems are exported as a system (IfcSystem).
Disabled: The individual components are exported without their system affiliation. The generated file can then be used without problems even in programs that do not cope with systems.
Export Block References
Enabled: CAD block references (inserted blocks in the drawing) are exported as well. No metadata is passed when exporting blocks.
Optimized Color Output for
Enabled: The color information of the IFC file is optimized for processing in Autodesk Navisworks.
Export IFC Property Sets
Allows you to transfer parameter values saved on components to property sets (property sets) in accordance with the IFC Implementation Guide and export them to the IFC format. IFC parameters are used to transfer the values, to which the LINEAR parameters that carry the corresponding information are assigned. These assignments are saved in mapping files. The mapping file UserDefaultIfcParameterMapping.ifcparmap, which is supplied and set by default, already contains some useful mappings that you can use and adapt as required. You can also create additional mapping files, which are then offered to you in the drop-down list for this option.
The ability to customize the mappings in the mapping files allows you to control exactly which values of LINEAR parameters are transferred to the individual properties of the IFC property sets.
Enabled: The values of the LINEAR parameters are transferred to the properties of the IFC property sets according to the selected mapping file and are also exported. The exported data is displayed in IFC viewers in the properties of the components on the IFC tabs.
Disabled: The values of the LINEAR parameters are not transferred to the IFC property sets. In IFC viewers, the data is displayed in the properties of the components on the LINEAR tabs.
: Opens the Configure IFC Parameters dialog, in which you can view and edit the assignment of the individual IFC parameters to the LINEAR parameters from the currently selected mapping file. You can also use this dialog to create your own mapping files.
LINEAR Export Parameter Sets
Drop-down list for defining the parameter sets compiled on the basis of the Information Levels. In parameter management, you can specify which parameters and, if applicable, data types are output in the individual information levels and create additional information levels if required.
: Opens Parameter Management, which lists all LINEAR parameters and parameter sets and allows them to be edited.
