About Managing User Customization

Explains the concept of managing user customizations.

All files that a part of a so called office standard, and which shall be available for several users, can be made available centrally in the User customizations…. These customizations can be user defined tool bars, labels or print layouts. This requires that all users use the same version of the LINEAR programs.

Working principle:

Any exchange directory can be determined on the server or workstation. It does not matter whether it is a mapped drive or a UNC path. It is only important that users who are to modify data have write access to this directory. For the other users it is sufficient to have read access to the common directory.

All necessary LINEAR program data remain locally installed on each workstation. Now, it is possible to decide individually, whether the local data should be synchronized with the modified data of the determined exchange directory.

This is very advantageous, since local changes are not directly applied to all LINEAR users. If this is desired anyhow, a modified file can, at any time, be stored by the respective user in the exchange directory and thus be available to all LINEAR users. It depends on the individual user’s decision, whether the adjustments should be synchronized on further local systems.

The menu Customizations allows the user a very flexible management and distribution of his data within the network. If, at a given moment, data should become unusable or even get lost, they can at any time be reinstalled from the original data medium.
