Creating a 3D Section View

Shows step-by-step how to create a 3D section view in a 3D model.

Before you begin

You want to create a 3D section to analyze your model.

Requirements:

You are working in a 3D planning type.

Navigate to:

Tools tabCommand group Sections / Views3D Sections / Views

Applies to all disciplines.

Procedure

  1. Click on behind the Z lower text field to open the Storey table.
  2. Select a storey and then define the reference edge with an offset if necessary. Close the dialog with a click on OK.
    Note: If you know the absolute height in mm, you can also enter the value directly in the text field.
  3. Repeat the height selection as described for the Z upper field.
    The upper and lower limits for the 3D section have been set.
  4. Click on Create section line <.
  5. Enter the path of the section line. Confirm the course with Enter.
  6. Show the desired depth of the section and click to save the section.
  7. Enter a short name for the cut in the following window and click OK.

Results

The 3D cut is created on the CUTLINES layer and displayed in the area Existing section lines with the specified short name.
