Details on Intermittent Heating Operation

Information on the Intermittent heating operation section in the Heat load tab of the building unit or room level.

At the room and building unit level, it is possible to make settings for intermittent heating operation that differ from the project settings for the corresponding structural level. Subsequent modifications to the additional heating capacity at project level overwrite adjustments at other structural levels. If no additional heat-up capacity is selected at the project level, these options are disabled at other structural levels.

Additional heat-up capacity

Use the radio buttons here, to select whether the building unit contains intermittent or rarely heated rooms and how you want to manage the settings for these.

None: This structural level contains no intermittent or rarely heated rooms. All fields for the detailed settings are deactivated.

Globally: This structural level contains intermittent or rarely heated rooms and the settings for these rooms are made at project level. Different specifications can be set on room level if the heating capacity in the room is changed to roomwise.

roomwise: This structural level contains intermittent or rarely heated rooms and the settings for these rooms can either be made on the project level, or at the building unit level, or in the room itself.

At building unit level: This structural level contains intermittent or rarely heated rooms and the settings for these rooms can be made both at project level and at building unit level.

Detail settings

Unheated interval: Period during which the room is not heated.

Reheating time: Time in which the room should be heated up to the desired temperature.

Air change rate Heat reduction: The air change rate during the unheated interval.

Air change rate: The air change rate during the unheated interval. This text field is only active if you calculate according to ISSO 53. With windows and doors closed and the system switched off, an air change rate of 0.1 can be assumed.

Temperature drop: From the data entered, a corresponding temperature drop in the subsidence phase is determined and suggested according to the standard. If the suggested value is below the target value or minimum temperature during the subsidence phase, the system automatically calculates using the target value or minimum temperature.

Temperature drop: Manually entered difference between target and minimum temperature of a room in the unheated interval. For ISSO 51, a click on the question mark opens a graphic to help you choose the right entry. For ISSO 53, the field is only active if free cooling is deactivated.

Alternatively, you can also enter a freely selected value. By clicking the suggested value is entered again.

Reheat factor: The heating factor is automatically determined and suggested based on the actual possible temperature drop.

Thermostat for building unit This option is only available at the room level and is only available for ISSO 51 calculations.

Enabled: The building unit has only one thermostat and it is located in this room. The reheating capacity of the room where the thermostat is located is based on the reheating factor. The reheating capacities of the other rooms of the building unit are subject to a percentage supplement based on the reheating capacity of the room with thermostat.

Disabled: Each room of this building unit contains its own thermostat. For the reheating capacity the reheating factor specified in the room is used.
