Change or Add a Dimensioning Style

Shows step-by-step how to change existing dimensioning styles or add new ones.

Before you begin

You want to adapt an existing dimensioning style or create a new style.

Navigate to:

Labeling and Output tabDimensioning

Applies to all disciplines.

Command group Dimensioning in the LINEAR Solutions for Autodesk AutoCAD

Procedure

  1. Click on Dimensioning styles ... to open the Dimensioning: ... dialog: ….
  2. You can
    • mark an existing dimensioning style for editing by clicking on it, or
    • add and name a new dimensioning style by clicking on New.
  3. Switch to the Text options tab.
  4. Enter the desired Text style.
    Note:

    A list of all available text styles can be found in the Text settings in the Label drawing area on the “Labeling and output” tab

    If you enter a non-existent text style here, it will be created the first time you use the dimensioning style.

  5. Define the Text height, Distance to the dimension line, Accuracy and Display.
  6. Switch to the Geometry options tab and make the desired settings. Close the dialog with a click on OK.

Results

An existing dimensioning style has been adapted to the requirements or a new dimensioning style has been created with the desired settings. Changes to existing styles have no effect on existing dimensions and only take effect from the next time the respective style is used.
