Dimensioning with Coordinate Entry

Shows step-by-step how to place a dimension by entering coordinates.

Before you begin

You want to dimension elements in your drawing by entering coordinates.

Note:

The procedure is identical for the dimensioning variants Coordinate entry horizontal <, Coordinate entry vertical < and Coordinate entry aligned < and differs only in the alignment of the dimensions and the dimension chain.

Command group Dimensioning in the LINEAR Solutions for Autodesk AutoCAD

Procedure

  1. Click on to open the list of available dimensioning styles and select the desired style for the dimension chain.
  2. Click to select the desired type of coordinate entry, Horizontal coordinate entry <, Vertical coordinate entry < or Aligned coordinate entry <.
  3. In the drawing, select two points whose distance from each other is to be specified as a dimension.
  4. Click to define the position of the dimension chain.
    The dimension chain is placed with the dimension number at the position shown in the selected alignment.
  5. Optional: Click to add further points to the dimension chain.
  6. End the entry with Enter.

Results

The dimension chain was created and placed with the desired dimension coordinates.
