About Unheated Rooms
Explains concept unheated rooms in relation to the heat load calculation.
If a room is unheated, the transmission heat loss of the building components adjacent to this room can be calculated using a correction factor or temperature. The temperature can be entered with a manual specification or determined via a steady state heat balance.
The correction factor is automatically determined from the room components and the room type of the unheated room. The determined correction factor can be overwritten by a manual entry. General rooms, staircases and cellar rooms are supported in automatic determination. For attics, boiler rooms and crawl spaces, the correction factor has to be entered manually.
When calculating the temperature using a heat balance, a steady state heat balance is calculated using the components of the unheated space and the adjacent temperatures. When calculating the heat balance, the components adjacent to another unheated space are not taken into account. This simplification ensures that a temperature can be calculated. The calculated temperature of the unheated room is displayed in the result window of the unheated room.
If the temperature or the correction factor is manually changed at a component adjacent to an unheated room, the values of this component in the unheated room will also be changed.
