About Internal Loads

Explains the concept of internal loads in the context of cooling load calculations using the short procedure.

Internal loads are sources of heat or moisture which reduce or increase the amount of energy needed to reach nominal temperatures. The following internal loads can be listed and considered:

Individuals, lighting, machinery

Regardless of the degree of their activity, people generate heat, which must be taken into account in the cooling load calculation. People give off moisture, which also has an influence on the capacity required of the heating or cooling system. In addition, regardless of the intensity of operation, the duration of operation and the type of technology used, lighting, machines or equipment introduce heat or cold, which must be taken into account in the cooling load calculation.

Material throughput

The cooling load of a room can be positively or negatively affected by the introduction of gaseous substances. Since this internal load is calculated per room, a material throughput can only be entered at room level.
