About Setting Options in the Dynamic Cooling Load Calculation

Explains the concept of settings in the dynamic cooling load.

You have two options for making the default settings for the behavior of the cooling load, dynamic module: At project level in the Settings dialog and in the Cooling load dynamic area in the Configuration for LINEAR Building, call up the program from the symbols bar.

In the Settings dialog, you make basic settings for calculating the dynamic cooling load. You can find the options sorted into the following tabs:
Tab Description
Method

Select the cooling load calculation method and specify whether the cooling load calculation is settled aperiodically with CDP (VDI) or periodically with CDD. You can also deactivate internal loads here if necessary.

Options

Specify if the temperature determination is based on the air temperature or on the operative temperature. You can limit the capacity of the existing systems and specify convective proportions of the systems.

Operating profiles

Define at which times of the day the heating or cooling system is in operation.

Solar options

Define here if and how solar radiation is calculated. In VDI 2078, the program performs the calculation in the solar calculation model according to VDI 6007 part 2 (2012). In ASHRAE, you can choose between ASHRAE 2005 (less direct, more diffuse radiation) and ASHRAE 2013 (closer to VDI 6007-2 values). If the clouding of the atmosphere factors τd and τb are missing in the climate data, the calculation according to ASHRAE 2013 is not possible and you have to calculate according to ASHRAE 2005.

Lighting

Determine how high the daylight factor is and what brightness is required in the rooms of your project.

PHC data

Globally define the capacity of the panel heating/cooling here.

Temp. hours

Define here if and under which conditions Kelvin- hours above and below set point are to be determined. You can choose from standard-based values for residential or nonresidential buildings.

In the Cooling load dynamic area in Configuration there are, among other things, settings for convection coefficients, computing accuracy or for handling a project’s stored data.
